January 2025 - December 2025

2025 Highlights

January

* As per the collage of photos below, you can see we had a massive water leak 😠 We woke up on New Years Day with water dripping out of ceiling vent in our lower-level bedroom.  Upon further investigating, the leak came from the water line hose of the refrigerator/freezer ice maker. We do not know how long this was leaking but long enough to saturate the bedroom ceiling below. We have lived in several houses through the years, and this was our first ever water leak. The process of making sure there was not mold, replacing flooring, molding and ceiling was such a mess and took about 4 weeks. As a result of this leak, we now have water sensors everywhere (under all sinks, laundry room, refrigerator and water heater)!!!

February

* Paul and I went on a cruise Utopia of the Seas with our friends Jamey & Susy (also Jayson), Nick & Sandra (Susy's sister) and Doug & Karen to celebrate the husbands 60th birthdays!!!! We had a great time lounging and eating!!!  Paul and I got our first ever couple's massage 😝
We reserved the cruise over a year ago and who knew we needed a vacation after enduring the water damage/construction mess in January!!

March

* We all (Evan and Danee too) went to take Ella out to lunch at college.  Since it was beautiful weather, we visited the Botanical Gardens in Athens.  It was a great day spending time together enjoying early spring outside in nature!

April

* Paul earned through his company (VACO) a free vacation to Play del Carmen in Mexico.  Everything about the trip was beautiful and appreciated 😎

May

* Below is a collage of birthdays celebrated in April and May (Paul's 60th 4/14, Ella's 19th 4/25 and Evan's 31st 5/20).  Paul's parents came to Atlanta and surprised Paul to celebrate his 60th birthday!!
And.....Danee turned "30" this year!!  She was celebrated with a beautiful party in their backyard!!  She is glowing in the pick below with Evan 😍

*July was a busier month for us...Paul and I took Evan and Danee to South Dakota.  We visited family in Aberdeen, SD (my aunt, uncle and cousins), Milbank, SD (sister, niece and cousins) and Big Stone, SD (aunt and cousins) and Ortonville, MN (my sister's boyfriend Todd). It was a quick trip with a lot of driving.  While in Aberdeen, Evan and Danee to the car and drove to North Dakota which was only less than two hours away.  Danee was able to check off three states on her bucket list in a short weekend!!

*Paul and I flew into Philadelphia, PA to visit family.   Paul's brother, David and wife Nicole were in Atlantic City for a few days, so we got to have a nice dinner and go to the beach with them. On our way to Central Jersey to visit cousins, we stopped at Monmouth Racetrack to watch some horse races.  We had a great weekend reconnecting with Missy and Michael and their kids, Brianna and Elyse.  Brianna and her husband Ross have a beautiful 9-month-old son, Luca.  As per the photos below, there were soooo much joy had the entire weekend!!

Aug./Sept.

* August and September were slower months, getting back to work at the middle school and moving Ella back to college.  She started her 2nd year continuing her major in accounting and also 2nd year participating in the Red Coat Marching Band as a Rank Leader!!

October

* Our friends Dawn and Larry came to Atlanta for a long weekend.  We took them to Athens, GA and attended Georgia Bulldogs football game!  They got to see Ella play in the Red Coat Marching band half-time show!!  We had so much fun and the weather was beautiful! Also, me up with Evan and Danee for brunch in Midtown to watch the Minnesota Vikings play the Jacksonville Jaguars...Vikings won 😊

November

* Evan and Danee hosted Thanksgiving at their house with Mila's (Danee's mom) delicious cooking!! We celebrated with Danee's parents (Mila and Dan), Danee's brother in-law (Dan) and Danee's friend Shannon's brother (Christopher).  We all had a wonderful time eating and watching football.

* On Good Friday, we took Evan and Danee to the UGA football game at the Mercedes Benz.  It was a great game and getting to see Ella play her trumpet and half-time show is awesome!!! Spending quality time with Evan and Danee is always a treat 😊

December

* We flew to Florida and visited Paul's parents over the holidays.  Per the collage below, we had so much fun playing our favorite game "five crowns", going out to eat with family (Cousin Alex and his fiancΓ© Klea) and friends, Lee and Arie! Welcome to Ella's Blog

Hi everyone, Welcome to Ella Sarah Lazar's first blog.

How it Started

Laura, Evan and I will be updating this blog as we prepare to travel to Yangchun, China. Yangchun is located approximately 160 miles southwest of Guangzhou, in Guangdong Province, China. We just received our match (referral) on Thursday January, 4th 2007 and aim to travel 4-8 weeks from this date (most likely 7-8 weeks as the Chinese New Year falls during this period).

Watching Ella Grow

Thanks for visiting - we had so much fun updating this blog during our trip to China, that we decided keep Ella's blog updated (once a month) to watch her (and Evan) grow up in front of our very eyes!
